I have been using this as a journal for years, and I love it. It keeps me grounded. I’m a pretty simple person, so I have little trouble keeping the days in the right perspective, but when I’m writing it’s much easier. I’m not a big fan of the format, though.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a journal like vangard 5. But the idea of keeping all of the day’s events in one place is great. And the idea of putting in the actual word for “day” makes it feel as if you’re writing about real time. I’d have to say that I’m really, really, really obsessed by it.
The journal format is a bit of a dead end for me though, because its hard to remember what day of the week it is when you’re writing it. But it does have lots of great qualities: It lets you keep track of the days events, and you can see a list of the days events in a real time view, as well as write down any notes you make. Its nice.
I think the best part of it is that you can track every change you do or see in the day when youre actually writing. I love the idea of keeping track of the day you spend doing something.
It reminds me of my favorite project called the “Dollhouse” where I was a student and had to make a living. I had to keep track of every dollhouse I took, and track them so that I could buy a new house with the same dolls for a friend.

It’s pretty cool what you can do. You can put stuff in other people’s lives and make them want to do stuff for you. In this case, you’ve created a dollhouse that doesn’t just exist in your own house, but that your friends will also want to build and decorate in.
We’re still tinkering with the dollhouse idea, but Im looking forward to seeing how that turns out. Im hoping that it will be a fun exercise that helps us figure out what we really want to do with our lives.
